Algae Blooms

Recently news media outlets have reported on an algae bloom in Lake Galena and other similar bodies of water. Please note that annual algae blooms are not unusual and have been seasonally recurrent in Lake Galena for decades. Our Forest Park Water Treatment facility, which receives water from Lake Galena, was engineered to properly treat and filter this type of algae and all associated bacteria, and has successfully done so for years, meeting or exceeding all applicable state and federal water quality criteria.
